Goronyo Pledges Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu’s Re-election in 2027

The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has accepted to serve as National Convener and Leader of a new support organisation established to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Goronyo announced his acceptance on Wednesday, September 10, 2026, when he received a delegation of political stakeholders from the seven North-West states, led by Dr. Haris H. M. Jibril, in his office.
The delegation formally introduced the Bello Muhammad Goronyo (BMG) Associates for Asiwaju/Shettima 2027, and sought the Minister’s approval to adopt his initials, BMG, as the organisation’s acronym.
The group said the initiative was established in recognition of Goronyo’s experience in political mobilisation, leadership development and grassroots engagement, particularly within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the delegation, Goronyo’s previous roles, including his involvement in youth mobilisation during the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and his service as Zonal Secretary of the North-West APC, demonstrated his capacity to coordinate stakeholders and mobilise support across the region.
The proposed organisation is expected to have representatives across the seven North-West states, with officials responsible for youth and women mobilisation, organisation, communication and coordination across the senatorial districts.
The delegation also presented a proposed Standard Operating Procedure designed to guide the organisation’s activities, with emphasis on discipline, accountability, teamwork, loyalty, respect for constituted party leadership and responsible political engagement.
Responding, Goronyo commended the initiative and expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for their confidence in his leadership.
He noted that several members of the delegation were people he had worked with during previous APC campaign activities, describing their renewed collaboration as evidence of their shared commitment to Nigeria’s development and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
The Minister stressed the importance of grassroots mobilisation in strengthening democratic participation and communicating government policies and programmes effectively to citizens.
He urged members of the organisation to listen to the concerns and aspirations of Nigerians and engage the people respectfully, particularly those who may not yet fully understand the policies and reforms of the Tinubu administration.
Goronyo highlighted infrastructure development as one of the major areas of intervention by the Federal Government, citing projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Trans-Saharan Corridor, Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Corridor and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway.
He also mentioned the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road and other strategic road projects across the country, noting that improved infrastructure would enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, reduce travel time and create economic opportunities.
The Minister said the administration’s interventions also extend to railway development and other critical sectors aimed at improving transportation and supporting economic activities.
He urged the support group to communicate the achievements of the administration in a clear, factual and responsible manner.
Goronyo subsequently formally inaugurated the organisation after accepting the leadership responsibility and charged its members to remain united, disciplined, accountable and committed to peaceful political mobilisation.
He said the organisation must build a strong grassroots network capable of reaching communities across the North-West and effectively communicating the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.
“As the Secretary of the Support Groups of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidential Campaign Council, we will continue to work with you, mobilise Nigerians and engage our people constructively towards ensuring the successful return of our dear President, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, Insha Allah,” Goronyo said.
He further pledged to work with political leaders, party officials and other stakeholders across the North-West to ensure that the organisation operates within the principles of party discipline, inclusiveness, fairness and responsible political participation.
The Minister also called on members to respect divergent views within the democratic space and promote peaceful political engagement as they work towards strengthening support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in the 2027 presidential election.
