Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, FCNA, has assumed duties as Acting Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance following the retirement of Raymond Omenka Omachi from the Federal Civil Service at the age of 60.
Omachi retired on October 26, 2026, after attaining the mandatory retirement age. The transition was formalised during a handover and valedictory ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, October 27.
In his acceptance remarks, Danjuma expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for the opportunity to serve.
He also thanked the Ministry’s management and staff for their cooperation, pledging to build on the achievements of his predecessor and ensure continuity in the Ministry’s administrative operations.
The Acting Permanent Secretary emphasised professionalism, accountability, discipline and teamwork as essential principles for effective service delivery and the achievement of the Ministry’s mandate.
He urged directors and other staff members to maintain effective communication, observe due process and work collaboratively towards achieving measurable results.
Danjuma further stressed the need for prudent resource management and improved service delivery, noting that collective commitment was necessary to advance the Ministry’s objectives.
He paid tribute to Omachi for his years of service and contributions to the Ministry, urging staff to sustain the cooperation and dedication demonstrated during his tenure.
In his valedictory remarks, Omachi described his retirement as an emotional experience, likening the ceremony to a family gathering.
He reflected on the relationships and experiences that shaped his career, expressing gratitude to President Tinubu, the Finance Minister and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for their support throughout his service.
Omachi also appreciated his colleagues and staff of the Ministry for their cooperation, urging them to remain committed to their responsibilities, uphold the values of the Civil Service and continue working in the national interest.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry’s management and staff, the Director of Human Resource Management, Aderonke Jaiyesimi, commended Omachi for his years of service and contributions.
She conveyed the workforce’s appreciation and wished him good health, peace and fulfilment in retirement.
The ceremony featured tributes celebrating Omachi’s career and contributions to the Ministry.
The event concluded with the cutting of a retirement cake in honour of Omachi’s retirement and 60th birthday.
